Can It Be Fixed Without Removing Tiles?
Many leaks can be repaired without removing existing tiles, depending on the condition and source of the leak. An inspection may be required to determine whether a non-invasive repair is suitable.
In practice a large share of leaking showers come down to defects at the tiled surface: grout, silicone, joints and penetrations. Those can usually be repaired without demolition, which is faster, cheaper and far less disruptive than a renovation.
What we will not do is tell you a surface repair will work when the evidence points somewhere else. If the symptoms suggest a failed waterproofing membrane, a plumbing fault or structural movement, we will say so and explain what we think the right next step is.
Often repairable from the surface
- Cracked, missing or eroded grout
- Perished, split or mould-affected silicone
- Open joints where the shower base meets the wall
- Unsealed penetrations around tapware, wastes and screens
- Failed perimeter seals on a balcony
- Deteriorated or missing movement joints
Needs a different approach
- A failed waterproofing membrane beneath the tiles
- Plumbing faults and concealed pipe leaks
- Structural movement or substrate failure
- Widespread drummy or lifting tiles
- Balcony leaks originating below the tiled surface

Some of What We Have Finished
Photographs of our own completed jobs: showers, bath surrounds and balconies. Every property is different, so treat these as an indication of finish rather than a like-for-like comparison.

How it works
Assess First, Then Quote
We would rather spend time working out what is actually wrong than guess at a price and discover the problem halfway through.
Step 1: Tell us what is happening
Send photos and a description through the site, or use the estimator to get an indicative range first. The more we can see, the more useful our first response is.
Step 2: Assessment
We review the photos, and where a leak is involved we will usually recommend an inspection. Identifying the actual source is what determines whether a non-invasive repair is appropriate.
Step 3: Written quotation
You get a written quote setting out the scope line by line, what is included, what is not, and what we would recommend if further investigation is warranted.
Step 4: The work
We protect the area, carry out the agreed scope, clean up after ourselves and leave you with written care and curing instructions.

Can you fix a leaking shower without removing tiles?
Often, yes. Many shower leaks are caused by defects at the tiled surface, such as deteriorated grout, perished silicone, failed junctions or unsealed penetrations, and those can be repaired without demolition.
It depends on the condition and the source of the leak. An inspection may be required to determine whether a non-invasive repair is suitable. Where the evidence points to a failed waterproofing membrane, a plumbing fault or structural movement, a surface repair will not resolve it and we will tell you that rather than proceed.
Can a balcony leak be repaired without removing tiles?
Sometimes. Balcony leaks caused by deteriorated grout, failed perimeter seals, missing movement joints or unsealed penetrations can frequently be addressed from the surface.
Balconies carry more risk of a deeper cause than bathrooms do. Where a leak originates below the tiled surface or from a structural waterproofing defect, surface remediation is unlikely to provide an appropriate repair, and further investigation or alternative remedial work would be recommended.
Does regrouting stop water leaks?
It can, when deteriorated grout is genuinely the path the water is taking. Reinstating sound joints and replacing failed sealant removes that path.
Regrouting is not a waterproofing system, though. It will not repair a failed membrane beneath the tiles, a leaking pipe or a structural defect. Anyone who tells you a regrout fixes every leak is overselling it.
Do you provide written quotes?
Yes. Every job is quoted in writing before work begins, with the scope set out line by line so you know exactly what is and is not included.
Quotations remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless stated otherwise.
How accurate is the online calculator?
It is an indicative range, not a quotation. It is built from the information you give it, so it is only as accurate as those inputs, and it cannot see the things that most affect a leak repair, such as the actual source of the water or the condition of what sits behind the tiles.
Treat it as a way to understand the likely order of magnitude before you speak to anyone. Final pricing is confirmed after reviewing the condition, access, measurements and required repair method.
